Scamper the Penguin

First and second graders recently watched an exciting movie called "The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin." After discussing our favorite parts, we wrote and drew about them. Ask your child about the movie. There's plenty to tell!

Kobe said, "I like the part when Mr. Feathers put his head in the walrus because it was asleep and I liked the movie."

Harlie liked the part "when Scamper and Snowflake kissed and when he [Mr. Feathers] got shot."

Paris said, "I like the part when the guy shot the penguin but it was ok. I liked when the huge ice fell."

Alexis said, "The walrus got Mr. Feathers because it opened its mouth. It was funny."

Kenny said, "I liked when they escaped the boat. And when they fought the guys and the boxes fell on the guy. That was my favorite part."

Tanner said, "I liked the part where the penguin got his head in the walrus."

Josee said, "The part was really funny with the walrus."

Irish said, "I liked the part when Scamper was born. He was funny."

Jody said, "I loved the part where he [Mr. Feathers] got shot and when he [Scamper] was born."

Garret said, "The leopard seal was about to eat the penguin."

Aria said, "The funny part was the where a penguin stuck his head in the mouth."

Hagen liked "the part where Mr. Feathers got hurt. And the seals attack the penguins."

Wylee said, "Mr. Feathers is weird. Cowboy [the dog] is crazy. Boom, Mr. Feathers got shot."

Penguins, Penguins Everywhere!

Everything's penguin in the 1st and 2nd grade classroom. We've read about penguins, written poetry about penguins, graphed penguins, played math games with penguins, sung songs about penguins, and made penguins. The bulletin board outside our classroom displays our poetry and the penguins we made. Come by and take a look or just scroll down and see for yourself.

Today 1st and 2nd graders celebrated winter with two art activities. We made icicles inside and we went outside to snow paint with colored water. Oh, and while we were outside we just couldn't resist making snow angels. Take a look at our fun:
