Tie-Dying

Pioche Elementary students are tie-dying shirts on Wednesday, September 1. Kids should wear old clothes & shoes since the process will be messy and dye, if spilled on clothing, is permanent. Flip flops are okay for this activity.

Shoe Tying Rhyme

To help some of our 1st and 2nd graders master tying shoes, we are using this rhyme:

Build a teepee
Come inside
Pull it tight so we can hide
Over the mountain
Around we go
Here's my arrow
Here's my bow
Thanks for helping to encourage your child to master this essential skill!

First Day of School!

The first day of school has come and gone. We began it will a school assembly where we enjoyed meeting the new 5th grade teacher and sang a few songs. In the classroom we learned some class routines, made "All About Me" posters, and created a class puzzle for the door. We're off to a good start and are anxious to see what the rest of the year will be like. Enjoy some pictures of our first day.

Saying thank you to organizations that have donated school supplies to our school

Treasure Box Donations

Pioche 1st and 2nd graders will earn the opportunity to dig in the class treasure box when they completely fill their sticker charts. If you have any "treasures" to donate (like gently used books, toys and stuffed animals, or candy/snacks), we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Swimming at Pioche Pool

Beginning Monday, August 23 and continuing through Thursday, September 9, 1st and 2nd graders will be swimming in the afternoons. Be sure to sign and return the swimming permission slip that was included in the student information packet. Send a swimsuit and towel each day. Water might also be a good idea since we will be walking back and forth from the school to the pool.

About the Teacher

My name is Jane Fiscus and I am happy to be your child's teacher this year. I taught 2nd grade last year at Pioche Elementary but am excited to now have the opportunity to teach two wonderful grades, 1st and 2nd grades, combined. Students call me "Miss Jane" and you are welcome to, as well.

I have lived in Pioche since March 2008 with my husband Mitch and daughter Nicole. I have taught in Arizona, Indiana, Wyoming, and Montana and taught 2nd, 3rd, 6th, middle school math, and have been a librarian and coach.

Together, we can make this year an awesome one for your child! Please contact me anytime I can be of help to you.
