Dr. Pepper Queen for a Day!

Today 1st and 2nd graders celebrated Mrs. Huntsman's birthday. If you know her, you know she LOVES Dr. Pepper so we each gave her a Dr. Pepper and we enjoyed a cake shaped like a Dr. Pepper can. (By the way, the cake was made by the talented Nikki Carter and it was as delicious as it was wonderfully decorated!)

Happy birthday, once again, Mrs. Huntsman! We love you!

Nevada $529 College Savings Day Contest

Spelling Bee Results

Today was the 1st-4th grade district spelling bee. Pioche 1st and 2nd graders were excited to be in the audience to cheer on 1st graders Wylee, Irish, & Garret and 2nd graders Alexis, Kenny, & Josee. Earlier in the day we encouraged the participants with a cheer:
We are proud of you!

We are proud of you!

Do your best,

Don't worry about the rest!

We are proud of you!

Ask our participants. They were nervous to be in front of so many faces and spell words in a microphone. But they did wonderfully! There were some easy words and some difficult words. Here are the words that stumped our smart 1st and 2nd graders:

Irish - beat

Garret - been

Wylee - brown

Kenny - beam

Josee - blimp

Alexis - fleet

Science/Art/Music Fair

Today is the school's science/art/music fair and Pioche 1st and 2nd graders are ready to share. In addition to singing a couple of songs, we tested the power of wind with our balloon-powered cars, created name art, formed beautiful magazine butterflies, and designed CD spinners.

Chicago Pizza!

Have you ever tried Chicago-style pizza? Pioche 1st and 2nd graders have and they like it! When Kobe's Flat Stanley visited his Uncle Ed, Flat Stanley got to try Chicago-style pizza. Uncle Ed thought that 1st and 2nd graders should get to try this yummy pizza, too. So he sent us three pizzas all the way from Chicago: one cheese, one pepperoni, and one spinach. Thanks Uncle Ed! Thanks, also, to Mrs. Diane Kelley (Kobe's grandma) and Mrs. Boyce (Hagen's mom and our wonderful school secretary) for helping us! It was a special treat to eat Chicago-style pizzas!

How's the spinach pizza, Mrs. Jane? (She loved it!)
Spinach pizza makes Ms. Huntsman and Mrs. Boyce strong!
