As part of National 529 College Savings Day, State Treasurer Kate Marshall is teaming up with the Nevada Bankers Association and Upromise to sponsor the Nevada $529 College Savings Day Contest which is open to all Nevada Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The prize is a $529 gift to be used to open a college savings plan or to enhance an existing account.
The theme of the contest is "I want to go to college so I can become a . . ." Those who enter have the choice of completing the sentence and either submitting a drawing of the career choice in the box included on the official entry form or submitting an essay of no more than 50 words about the student's career ambition.
There will be 5 winners selected--two from Clark County, one from Washoe Count, one from a northern rural community, and one from a southern rural community. For more information or to download an official entry form and review the official rules, go to NevadaTreasurer.gov. All entries must be received by the State Treasurer's Office no later than May 20, 2011. The winners will be selected via a random drawing on May 23.
